 UPCOMING EVENTS AND REMINDERS

NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 13 or Monday, February 16

* Wacky Wednesdays
Sports Day was a success this week!

February 18 - Hawaiian day

February 25 - Backwards day

The highest percentage of  participants (per class) in each school wins a hot chocolate party!

* FOREST FAMILY NIGHT HIKE

Due to the icy conditions on the trail and the anticipated warming (icing) temperatures, our Night Hike is postponed. Please save the date for a new after-school, family event on April 23.

* Learning Opportunities for Parents and Educators

The ODC Network is launching a meaningful 4-part speaker series in 2026 featuring nationally-renowned experts who will explore how technology is reshaping our lives and offer practical ways to restore balance for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

Through the generosity of local donors, tickets for the talks in Holland are free (one per email address) and can be reserved HERE.

We celebrated our work with PR expectations - Practicing Respect, Practicing Responsibility, and Practicing Relationships! Students choose from a variety of activities and spent time enjoying each other's company.

COME ONE, COME ALL!

Pine Ridge is having a used book sale to help Gateway mission. We are asking that each student bring in 1-5 used books, to donate to the sale. Each book will be vetted and leveled so that on sale day kids can shop by their general interest and level. We have two goals with this sale, one is to raise money to purchase items for the mission that will help those in need in our community with basic essential items. The second is to get different and hopefully fresh books into your child's hands before reading month comes around in March. We will take 2 weeks (Feb. 17-27) to collect books and hope to run the sale the week of March 6th. More information on shopping coming soon! :)

The girls running club needs you!

We are ready to start signing up girls for our Pine Ridge running club but can not do so until we have some coaches. This will run from 3:15-4:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays. It will culminate with a fun run during Tulip Time. Please contact the office if you are interested.

Curriculum Highlights
BIBLE: We began a new unit of study as we continue to look at Jesus' ministry.

MATH: We have been working hard multiplying multi digit numbers with and without decimals!

We practiced solving problems on the top of Van Raalte hill in order to sled down ... the hill was fast so we practiced a lot of problems!

Sledding didn't end well for all of us though ...

We did some Math activities around the theme of Valentine's Day.

READING: This week we worked on applying the skills we already know using informational texts about football (Super Bowl) and Valentine's Day.

We also presented our posters that highlighted what we learned as we became experts on a topic.

WRITING: We worked on our research at Herrick Library and at school this week.
